Naoshima: Tsutsuji

We left yesterday for another week long field trip with Don’s class.

After many hours and trains, one ferry and one bus, we landed on Naoshima, an island in the Seto Inland Sea in western Honshu.

The island is known for its famous and extensive contemporary art – but more on that later.

We are staying at this great place called Tsutsuji. The students are staying in this big yurts, and Don, A and I are staying in a “Japanese cottage” right on the beach.

It’s beautiful.

And bigger than our entire Takadanobaba apartment!

This was the view when we woke up this morning:

Not bad! I’m kind of bummed we are only here for two nights before heading to another part of Japan altogether.
